{"id":34,"date":"2016-02-05T01:34:23","date_gmt":"2016-02-04T15:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.kingsgrovemusic.net.au\/wordpress\/?page_id=34"},"modified":"2022-01-19T14:22:02","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T04:22:02","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/kingsgrovemusic.net.au\/wordpress\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"120\" src=\"http:\/\/kingsgrovemusic.net.au\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/header-300x120.png\" alt=\"[img] Kingsgrove Music logo\" class=\"wp-image-142\" srcset=\"http:\/\/kingsgrovemusic.net.au\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/header-300x120.png 300w, http:\/\/kingsgrovemusic.net.au\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/header.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Kingsgrove Music has been servicing the musical needs of the local and surrounding communities since its establishment in 1955.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Location<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The desire to provide enhanced studio comfort and broaden the musical activities of the school resulted in <em>Kingsgrove Music<\/em> relocating to Bexley in late 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Facilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>seven studios, with three sufficiently large enough to allow ensemble and group work<\/li><li>ducted reverse cycle air conditioning<\/li><li>reception and waiting area<\/li><li>on-site parking for 8 cars<\/li><li>on-site shop catering for most music needs (including instruments, accessories and music)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Owners<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Turner family are proud to continue the long tradition of <em>Kingsgrove Music<\/em> in providing excellence in music teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the family, there is a strong tradition of academic excellence, educational leadership, and privileged musical education via The Conservatorium High School, St Andrew\u2019s Cathedral School, the Australian Institute of Music and the University of NSW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years the family have undertaken two European Music Tours in conjunction with St Andrew\u2019s Cathedral School, having the opportunity to perform in venues of international renown throughout Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Music Teachers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/kingsgrovemusic.net.au\/our-teachers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">teachers at <em>Kingsgrove Music<\/em><\/a> are chosen because they have engaging personalities, musical ability and love sharing the joy of music making.&nbsp;&nbsp; They are highly experienced professional musicians with a passion for musical pedagogy who are committed to their own ongoing professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Philosophy of the Kingsgrove Music<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The following statements summarise the underpinning philosophy of Kingsgrove Music as we work to serve local families and the community:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>music should accessible to all people (hence the fee structure has been designed to assist families access music tuition and is below the Music Teachers Association recommended fee level)<\/li><li>music creates harmony and is the one great international unifier \u2014music speaks all languages<\/li><li>music is fun and should give pleasure and enjoyment \u2013 it should be a positive experience which allows the innate creativity of the child to emerge<\/li><li>music should not cause stress \u2013 it is equally legitimate to study music for pleasure and relaxation as it is to formalise study via the examination process<\/li><li>musical experiences and tuition should be developmentally appropriate and designed to meet the needs of the individual<\/li><li>we aim to provide a complete musical education by incorporating basic theory and aural training with instrument instruction<\/li><li>all ages, all styles, all standards are welcomed<\/li><li>we seek to match student learning style and personality with that of the teacher<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Educational Benefits of a Music Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a vast amount of literature that provides evidence of the educational advantages that musical experiences and training provides to the child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In summary, all aspects of the child\u2019s development are impacted upon.&nbsp;&nbsp; That is, music offers the opportunity to facilitate a child\u2019s physical, intellectual, social, emotional, language and musical development.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; For this reason, Kingsgrove Music particularly seeks to provide musical programs for children with special needs, and for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.&nbsp;&nbsp; Our early childhood programs take advantage of the child\u2019s natural instinct to play whilst introducing them to the concepts of music, movement, singing, and dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our before-school music program reflects an eclectic combination of concepts from Zoltan Kodaly, Karl Orff and Shinichi Suzuki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musical education has been found to enhance creativity; problem-solving;&nbsp; fine motor coordination;&nbsp; and eye-hand coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other life skills (and subsequently employability skills in later life) assisted by music study include:&nbsp;
